Healthcare on wheels, hope in reach
This NGO project was initiated in 2005 when the number of HIV and Aids related incidents started escalating on farms in the Commondale area. It was initially a church driven project started by the Mission Committees of Braunschweig and Augsburg Lutheran Congregations.
Today, Thol’ulwazi Thol’impilo Mobile Clinic Service is a critical healthcare initiative designed to address significant disparities in primary healthcare access in rural and underserved communities of the Mkhondo and eDumbe sub-districts. By offering comprehensive healthcare services, including HIV testing, TB screening, chronic medication distribution, and adherence counseling, the project supports South Africa’s National Strategic Plan on HIV, TB, and STIs, as well as the UNAIDS 95-95-95 targets.
The Thol’ulwazi Thol’impilo Mobile Clinic Project operates in alignment with district and national health strategies and is well-positioned to play a pivotal role in strengthening healthcare delivery systems.

The ttm story …
Our most important function as an organization is to offer education, support and assistance to the farm workers and their families in our target areas, especially in getting HCT and treatment available at the farm gate. In our continued efforts, together with the Dept. of Health and with the support of our various sponsors we shall endeavor to fulfill and reach this goal.
Tracking impact in real time: powering better health with data
Robust monitoring and evaluation (M&E) systems are essential for measuring the project’s impact, improving service delivery, and ensuring alignment with district, provincial, and national health priorities. Over the past year, the Thol’ulwazi Thol’impilo Mobile Clinic Project developed a Power BI dashboard to track key performance indicators, including headcount, HIV testing, and ART delivery for each mobile clinic. This tool provides real-time insights into the project’s performance and impact, enabling data-driven decision-making at all levels.
